St Peter's Ravenshead

Funding

Ravenshead Day Centre Ltd, which operates The Cornwater and Thursday Clubs, is both a limited company and a registered charity. Though member fees make a contribution, we rely largely on donations to meet our costs.

Until mid 2009, the largest slice of our income came from a three-year award by the National Lottery. The remainder was and is still met by grants from Nottinghamshire County Council and many philanthropic trusts, as well as one-off corporate and individual donations too numerous to mention and, of course, always gratefully received.

Now that the lottery funding has ended, we are exploring various means of providing sustainable revenue. In anticipation of this need we opened the Cornwater Club Charity Shop in May 2008.

"Friends of Ravenshead Day Centre" was introduced in 2006 to encourage residents of Ravenshead to make regular contributions to the upkeep of the two clubs. The "Friends" Promise Programme entails individuals making an informal commitment to donate a certain sum every month, quarter or year by whatever method they prefer. Completion of a simple form is all that is required and the donor can cancel the arrangement at any time. An advantage of the scheme is that if the donor is a tax payer we can recover the tax on the donation from the tax man, without any further cost to the donor.

If you would like to know more about becoming a Friend of RDC, please contact Judy Vaughan, tel 01623 623827. "Friends of RDC" is accredited by the Fundraising Standards Board.
